Capelin hopes to share a snowboard culture rooted in real winters, real terrain, and a genuine love for the mountain. Founded in 2014 in the Yin Mountains and Yan Mountains region of Northern China, Capelin was shaped by the snowboard culture of a land defined by hard winters and serious terrain. From the beginning, we wanted to build gear that reflects that culture: sharp, distinctive, and built to perform. Not gear that blends in. Not another round of safe colorways and forgettable silhouettes. Capelin carries the visual energy of snowboard culture into every design — bold palettes, sharp silhouettes, and colorways that go somewhere. We believe technical performance and personal expression are not opposites. Great gear should help riders push limits while allowing them to express who they are.

The mountains we love are worth protecting. At Capelin, sustainability is not just about the materials we use — it is about making better choices throughout the entire process of creating our gear. We use technologies such as RUDOLF BIONIC-FINISH® ECO, an advanced, eco-friendly water-repellent solution inspired by nature. Using dendrimer technology, it creates durable, fluorine-free protection while avoiding harmful chemicals like halogens and APEOs. We also use REBORN recycled polyester yarn, a sustainable fiber made from recycled plastic bottles. By giving plastic waste a second life and reducing the need for virgin polyester, REBORN helps lower environmental impact and contributes to a more sustainable future. Capelin was founded in 2014, rooted in the snowboard culture of the Yin Mountains and Yan Mountains of Northern China. Growing up at the meeting point of two of China’s great ranges — and just 300 kilometres from Zhangjiakou, the city that hosted the 2022 Winter Olympics — the founding spirit of the brand was shaped by real winters, real terrain, and a genuine love for the mountain.
